"Catch The Country Spirit"

"MUSIC speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole."

About Randy and Rai

Randy Smith, born and raised in Alberta, is carrying on the family tradition as a Country Entertainer.  His paternal grandparents band 'Allan Smith and the Serendars' were popular around Central Alberta.  His father Glenn, also sang and played guitar with the family band and as a result, Randy has been singing since age 5.

Randy began his career as a solo act in Southern Alberta before becoming the lead singer for a Country/Rock band 'Wild Frontier' and then later forming a band with his brother, 'The Alamo'.  In 1997 he decided to take some time off from the road to focus more on new material, co-writing with the likes of Kenny Hess, Tony Rudner and the late Mike Norman.

Randy traveled down to Nashville twice where he recorded a few songs, performed at 'Tootsie's Orchid Lounge' and the 'Hall of Fame Room', had a chance to do some writing with fellow Canadian Tim Taylor and fulfilled a dream to visit some of the 'greats' backstage of the 'Grande Ole Opry'.

Rai, born and raised in Alberta, grew up surrounded by cowboy and western music for most of her childhood, being the daughter of a fulltime ranch-hand. "Weekends were always full of music, even if us kids just had the good ol' paper and comb kazoo!"

Rai sang in the school Choir, but before her musical career could be developed further, being a Mom took priority. However, that didn't stop her from recognizing quality when she saw it and snagged Randy on his very first tour to Grande Prairie, AB with 'Wild Frontier'.

Randy and Rai became life partners in 1995 with 3 children and several grandchildren and now reside in Devon, Alberta.  It took Randy until 2008 to convince Rai to become his stage partner as well and since then they have been entertaining as a feature act at festivals such as:

  • Calgary Stampede
  • Pincher Creek's Best of the West Weekend
  • Maple Creek Cowboy Gathering
  • Willow Creek Gathering
  • Vilna Cowboy Fest
  • Alberta Men and Women of Country Music
  • Bruce Stampede

Randy and Rai are members of the Alberta Cowboy Poetry Association, Alberta Country Music Association and the Canadian Country Music Association.

Randy and Rai currently have 4 CD's available:  all that i am, frickin' awesome, Love is.....  and a little r&r was just released September 1, 2016.

Performing together, their song writing and tight harmonies on and off stage, sets them apart from other artists.  Their quick wit and laughter seems infectious and immediately puts the audience at ease (or asleep - your choice).

So sit back, relax, everyone needs a little R 'n' R, heck you can even slip your shoes off...if folks sittin' round you don't mind.
